Pay per click or a fixed monthly price? Choosing how to pay for visitors

On SaaS Vendor Market your listing is free. When you want visitors to click through to your website, you choose how to pay for them: per click or with a fixed monthly price. Which one is cheaper depends on one number: how many visitors you expect.
How both options work
- Per click: 5 points for each unique visitor per day who clicks "Visit website", and 3 points for "Free trial". The same visitor clicking twice on one day counts once, and recognised bots are never counted. You set a monthly limit, so you never spend more than you planned.
- Fixed per month: 300 points for 30 days of unlimited click-throughs.
The break-even point
Divide the monthly price by the price per click: 300 ÷ 5 = 60 clicks. Below that number per month, paying per click is cheaper. Above it, the fixed monthly price wins, and every extra visitor is free.
When to choose per click
- You just listed your SaaS and do not know yet how many visitors to expect.
- Your product targets a small niche with a few highly interested visitors.
- You want to test different taglines or screenshots and see the effect on clicks.
When to choose a fixed monthly price
- Your listing regularly gets more than 60 click-throughs a month.
- You run a promotion, such as a top spot in your category, and expect a peak in traffic.
- You prefer a predictable cost over counting clicks.
Use the data you already have
Your dashboard shows how many people viewed your page, how many clicked through and how many wanted to visit your site while your link was still off. That last number is valuable: it tells you how many visitors you are missing right now. Start per click with a sensible monthly limit, look at your numbers after two weeks and switch when the fixed price becomes cheaper.
Combine with promotions
A promotion, such as being featured on the homepage or at the top of your category for seven days, brings extra views. Pair it with a fixed monthly link so that every extra visitor can reach your site without extra cost. See all prices on the page for makers.
